Gavin Tait signed Scott
for City at the tender age of 13, and the
lad has been a loyal servant to the bluebirds
ever since. Eventually signing professional
terms at the age of 17 under the management
of Eddie May, he has gone on to make 350 appearances
for the club to date, scoring 24 goals along
the way, most noteably of course being the
fantastic 87th minute winner against the then
Premier League leaders Leeds United on January
6th 2002. Indeed this, along with his beloved
City gaining promotion to the first division
last season, ranks as one of the highlights
of his career so far.
Married to the lovely Fiona, they have two
children, son Connor aged 4, and daughter
Lauren aged just 10 months. A proud welshman,
Scott has represented his country at B international
level on one occasion, but has 5 under 21
caps to his name, he also made 4 appearances
with the full Wales squad. His boyhood hero
was the welsh goal machine Ian Rush, but his
modern day favourite is the french star Zinedine
Zidane.
Football is not the only sport Scott has a
passion for, his other interests are Golf
and Cricket. Although when asked what he plans
to do upon retirement from the beautiful game,
he expressed his intentions to stay involved
in football, but not in a managerial capacity,
and when you consider the pressure that goes
hand in hand with management, who can blame
him!! Whatever Scott chooses to do in the
future, we are sure that you will join us
in wishing him and his family all the very
best for the future, whichever path he takes.
Well, that's the end of our brief look at
the man himself. We would like to end this
introduction by thanking Scott for ten years
of loyal service to Cardiff City, and we sincerely
hope that he will be with the club for many
more to come.
Good
luck Scott!!
